Scattering of ashes at sea is both a poignant and beautiful way in which to say goodbye to a loved one.
Many of us find that being on or near the water gives a feeling of inner calm bringing some much needed peace and comfort during sad times.
The Solent is an exceptional place of beauty with much to see and admire.
Your Experience
Legend Lady can be hired for the day, where your Skipper and crew will take you out into The Solent and find a suitable spot where a formal ceremony can take place or a non formal few words be said, whatever is your preference.
We will help you plan an event in line with your wishes for how you would like the day to go.
We also have a multi zone stereo system on board and can play music of your choosing whilst the ceremony takes place.
The engines can be stopped adding to the atmosphere, allowing you to focus where music and words take over.
Once a ceremony of your preference has taken place you can then go on to have lunch at your stop in one of the famous hot spots on the Isle of Wight such as The Hut or Yarmouth.
We will provide you with hot and cold drinks and pastries for all your guests. Legand Lady can accommodate up to 12 guests for this type of service but where larger groups can also be catered for by using additional charter boats which are subject to availability through Southampton Boat Charter.

The Day
The day will be usually consist of boarding the boat at Ocean Village Marina for your welcome and safety brief, where the plan for the day will be explained, then you will cruise to a suitable spot for the ceremony to take place on board, before stopping at the Isle of Wight for lunch (on land).
After lunch, you will come back on board and have a chance to do some more cruising around the area enjoying the scenery and perhaps with some more time to reflect before cruising back to Ocean Village Marina to disembark.
Our team are incredibly respectful of your farewell and understand this may be a difficult time for you. They will do all they can to make things as easy as possible looking after you & your guests in the most appropriate manner throughout.
You will also have absolute peace of mind that our ashes scattering service charters are carried out in full adherence to the guidance set by The Environment Agency’s advice ( a minimum of 3 nautical miles or 3.45 miles) off shore and where anything else scattered at the same time must be biodegradable such as unwrapped flowers ( no plastics, non biodegradable wreaths or memorabilia).
You can either purchase a scattering tube if you are worried about touching the ashes, or you can purchase a biodegradable urn.
